Michele was born in Newton, NJ and lived in the woods for most of her childhood. Here she first fell in love with nature and animals, a love that grows to this day.
Art always came natural to Michele and she took an interest in drawing at a very early age. She had an eye for detail and realism which always brought her perfect grades art class. Art also became an outlet for Michele and a way for her to channel the everyday stresses she faced.
It wasn’t until much later in life that she realize her artistic abilities could actually earn an income. Having three young children at home, Michele would draw cartoon characters for their room to hang on their walls. She would also create black and white pics for them to color. People who saw her work would ask her to draw and paint murals for their children’s rooms, allowing her to supplement her income as a stay-at-home-mom.
As the family grew to have families of their own, Michele had more time to paint and draw and truly enjoyed having the time to work on her talent. She would draw for friends and colleagues and was always praised for her talent as an artists.
Michele’s commissioned works began in airbrushing, starting with t-shirts and then eventually expanding to larger items such as motorcycles, tailgates and to very large pieces now located in 2 NYS parks.
Just a few years ago Michele traded her airbrush for a chainsaw and has been carving for the past two years. Many of her subjects are modeled after the woodland animals she loved so dearly as a child, though she has been commissioned to carve a variety items for client’s homes and businesses.
